The Matthews market

A busy suburb with Charlotte next door.

Matthews grew from 27,198 people in 2010 to 29,435 in 2020. With uptown Charlotte only 11 miles away, a Matthews search pulls up businesses from all over the metro. Showing up is half of it. Looking like the obvious pick on a small screen is the other half.

The Matthews line

A railroad town from the first stop.

Before it was Matthews, it was Stumptown, then Fullwood. The tracks gave it a name and a reason to trade.

  1. Early 1800s

    Stumptown

Farm families clearing land for cotton left so many stumps behind that the settlement took the name.

  2. Stagecoach era

    Fullwood

Renamed for John Miles Fullwood, the first postmaster, who kept a stagecoach stop here.

  3. Dec 15, 1874

    First train

Rails reach the crossroads and cotton starts moving out by freight car.

  4. 1879

    Matthews

Incorporated and named for Edward Matthews, a director of the railroad. The 1880 census counted 181 residents.

  5. 1996

    Historic district

Ten downtown buildings, among them a 1907 school, go on the National Register of Historic Places.

  6. 2013

    Heritage Museum

The 1880s Massey-Clark House reopens as the Matthews Heritage Museum.

Portfolio

Honest work, honest labels.

We haven't built for a Matthews company yet, so there's no made-up local example here. Each project shows the town where that client actually operates.

Questions at the gate

Asked before every build.

Q1Do you have an office in Matthews?

Our office is in Mooresville, about 40 minutes up I-77 and I-485. We won't pretend otherwise with a rented mailbox on Trade Street. Nearly all of the work happens over the phone and screen share, and Roger drives down whenever meeting face to face is useful.

Q2How long does a new website take?

A Starter site is usually live in about a week. Growth runs about two weeks and Authority about three. The biggest variable is how fast photos and feedback come back.

Q3Who owns the website when it's done?

Your business does: the domain, the text, the images and the pages. We host it so it stays quick and patched, but it's yours.

Q4Do you build on WordPress?

No. Pages are written by hand in plain code, so there are no plugins to update, no admin login for hackers to guess and nothing slowing it down on a phone.
